HOW TO SIGN UP
This process is completely free, we are initially hosting our events on the TrainingPeaks Virtual (TPV) platform, but we have no affiliation to them.
Download TPV to your chosen device: https://www.trainingpeaks.com/virtual/
TPV is currently available for download on Windows PC, Apple Mac, Android / ChromeOS, and iOS (iPhone / iPad)
AppleTV is currently only available for former indieVelo Founders Club members - but will be available soon!
Once installed, run the software and it will ask you to create an account.
Be aware that you are signing up for the TPV account using their T&C’s and when racing you will also be racing under their rules.
Please also bear in mind that we hope to live broadcast races so need to be as official as possible with the sign-up process.
Use your real name, weight, gender, age and height, we may require these to be verified for results to stand, the process for this will be decided and communicated later.
In clubs, search for your institutions name and request to join their club. If you can't find your institution, speak to your cycling club captain and either they can invite you, or encourage them to create a club and get involved.
Join VeloVersity Discord channels where you will need to link to your institution and agree to our terms. Your discord invite code will be provided by your Club Captain.
Follow these instructions to easily set up your team: Organise Your Own Team – Please use the same name as your official institutions name, eg: Swansea University CC
Create your kit using official University logo and colours for your sports clubs: Custom Team Kit
I suggest placing the University logo large on the back of the jersey so that it’s obvious in races who you are representing. In game kits can be updated (by providing an updated design) but please consider the long term relevance of the kit to reduce unneeded updates.
If you need help with this contact jon@veloversity.co.uk.
There are two options for how riders can join the team:
Request to Join: This gives riders the option to request to join the team, with an automated email being sent to the assigned team manager who will then be able to add them to the team.
Invite only: This means that the team manager has control of who to add to the team and no one (outside of the institution) will be able to request to join the team. For now, I recommend keeping your ‘Team’ set to invite only.
Once the team is set up. Promote and add riders to your Team in the game:
Ensure all members who join are current students. Staff can enter but need a staff specific team, eg: Swansea University Staff CC
Any staff teams should have an alternate kit to distinguish.
Invite students to join the team using link or sign-up code.
It’s your responsibility to ensure that all members are students of your institution and possess the proper affiliations required for sports access that you may have.
Email info@veloversity.co.uk with - institutions name, copy of your team kit, captains name and email, club email.
We will then send you an invite code to our Discord channel, and grant access to captains chat.
Please bear in mind that we hope to live broadcast races so need to be as official as possible with the sign up process.
